Why do I love my job: I absolutely love my job as I love helping people feel amazing and confident make-up free. I also make sure they are pampered, relaxed and walk out with a smile on their face. Imagine being famous and feeling so special, that’s how my clients feel.

What did I love doing at school: I loved Art, PE & Design & Technology (D & T). I think this is why my attention to detail is so specific.

Childhood hobbies:

I loved all things sports including Netball, Rounders & PE. Outside school I loved all things beauty, nails, make-up and skincare.

How to get into the sector:

This is easy, work hard at school to get the correct grades and then you have two options:

1 – Study NVQ Level 2 & 3 at college for 2 years.

2 - Complete an Apprenticeship in a local salon who will support you working whilst learning.

Approach local salons (walk in with your CV it gets amazing recognition) to get some work experience, even a Saturday job will give you a head start. Just remember the learning section is hard as it will be new and different to school but be committed and stay focus and I promise you’ll never work a day in your life as the job is honestly something so special.

Career high:

This must be winning UK Awards for my work, winning multiple trophies have been a dream come true. Being recognised for my hard work, the long hours, and never giving up has given me so much motivation to keep going and continue to pursue my dreams.

Top tip: My top tip is to always follow your heart. Follow your dreams, visualise your future and do whatever it takes to make it happen. There is no such thing as failure, you are just constantly evolving and learning and most importantly have the most amount of fun whilst doing it. ;) - Kirsty Baker, Clinic Director
