In order to be able to gain entry to an A Level pathway, students must achieve a minimum of 40 points from the best 8 GCSE grades, including maths and best English grade. If you gain between 40 and 43 points, we may advise you on a combination of both A Level and vocational courses to ensure a more successful outcome at the end of the two years. For the BTEC/Technicals an aptitude (where already studied) and a genuine interest in the subject area are required and 36 points from the best 8 GCSEs, including English and maths, needs to be achieved. For both A Level and BTEC/technical courses, a student’s behaviour and work ethic, determined through effort and behavioural points will also be taken into account when considering their application to the Sixth Form.
